How do you craft the perfect tweet? This is how.

Recent research at Cornell University unveiled, or rather confirmed, what most Tweeters out there suspected. Images and Videos will increase your engagement by over 100%.

Humans are visual creatures, and in the case of Twitter, where you are limited to 140 characters, the old adage "A picture says 1000 words" couldn't be more true.

DISCLAIMER TIME: 140 characters now becomes 117 if you add an image (due to the 23 character shortened URL). However, I would trade 23 letters for 1000 words any day!

The research went on to point out several other ways to optimize your tweets to increase engagement. Of course, these tips must be used in relevant scenarios:

  • Add Images and Videos
  • Add  "pls", "plz" "please retweet"
  • Use relevant #hashtags
  • Stay away from first person Tweets. "I" tends to reduce engagement.
  • Humor

Our recommendation for engagement is the following:  90 words (cleverly crafted) + URL to your website + Image. (You can read more on how to add images with BlasTwit.)

One last point regarding this study is that an App has been developed around this research. It allows you to compare the same tweet, crafted differently to identify which one will have the higher engagement rate.

Twitter's client software is a great tool for gaining followers

The more followers you have, the more your tweets will be read and retweeted. There are many tools out there designed to help you get followers, but instead of spending money, why not use Twitter itself?

Your goal should be to gain followers that will be attracted to your content. So as an example, if your niche is philanthropy, you may want to gain some of the same followers that Bill Gates has.

The method will be to follow Bill Gates' followers. However, not just any followers. You want to engage active followers - those that are actively engaged with twitter. Identifying these followers is easy; just go to Gate's timeline and find a recent tweet that has been retweeted numerous times. Click on the retweets link and a list of all the recent re-tweeters will appear. The next step is to follow all of them.

Since the retweets are recent, most of those individuals will likely be able to react in-time to the notification that they have just been followed by you.

In our trials we have seen follow-back rates of 30%-50% compared to 10%-15% rates when randomly following twitter accounts.

(Tips and Tricks) - Adding images to your scheduled tweets.

It is a known fact that tweets with images get more attention. It is rather easy to add images to your listed tweets. It involves a few simple steps:

     1.  Send a tweet using any twitter client and attach the image.

     2.  In the twitter client open the sent tweet and copy the url for the image. Typically this will be a url that begins with t.co, pic.twitter.com, or twitter.com/…./status/…./photo/.

     3.  Prepare your tweet in BlasTwit and paste the link in your tweet.

Learn the best way to get quality Twitter followers.

Increasing your Twitter follower count is an absolute must for today’s bloggers. Anyone who has been on Twitter long enough knows the value of being ReTweeted. However, using “following” apps doesn’t guarantee quality followers (those who actually engage and interact with Twitter). The best way to get these is by tweeting content that is relevant and when your followers retweet, more followers will follow.

Tweeting content to gain followers is not as easy as it sounds. The average lifetime of a tweet is less than 20 minutes. That is, if your followers don’t get to their timeline within 20 minutes of your tweet, there is a high likelihood that they will miss your content. In the best of circumstances, if you have 100% quality followers, your tweet may be seen by 1/100th of your followers. And if the content is good or relevant, it may be ReTweeted by a handful.

So how can you reach more of your followers so they can RT to theirs? Simple… you reach more of your followers by sending the same content several times per day. This is not as easy as it sounds since it requires that you stay engaged with Twitter (optimally 24/7) and that you modify your tweets slightly to prevent Twitter from blocking them for duplicate content (especially if sent within a couple of hours from each other). This is where scheduling services help, and BlasTwit was specifically designed to help our customers organize and schedule their tweets. As one of our beta-testing clients told us… “I used to spend countless hours copying and pasting my recurring tweets from a spreadsheet. With BlasTwit I can now automate the process and spend more time at the beach.”

Top 4 Reasons to use BlasTwit

The most compelling reason to use BlasTwit is tweet scheduling. There are other better known applications such as Hootsuite, TweetDeck and SproutSocial, but only BlasTwit is specifically designed for organizing and scheduling your tweets.  Let’s face it, the most widely used feature in social media apps is Tweet scheduling, and none do it as well as BlasTwit. Don’t get us wrong, Hootsuite and the others have great analytic tools and they are great for managing multiple networks, however their costs alone prevent many Tweeters looking to schedule their tweets from using these apps.

Our core strength is Tweet scheduling. Our app allows users to create tweets and categorize them into lists. Once the lists are created users can schedule the individual lists for BLASTING (broadcast). Even free users can list unlimited tweets into the default list. Although they cannot schedule the tweets for automated sending, they can still use the BLAST button to run the list.
The best part is that our scheduling engine does not spread tweets in 5 minute increments, and instead randomizes the order and the time between tweets to give the impression that a human is sending them.
Lastly, users can add, edit, and delete tweets in BlasTwit without the use of .CSV files. This gives users the ability to update their lists and schedules directly from their web-browser and in the future from our apps.

In Summary these are the top reasons to use BlasTwit :
  1. Best in class tweet management and scheduling capabilities
  2. Update lists from your web-browser without need for .CSV files
  3. Randomize the time between tweets (don't be the 5-minute BOT)
  4. Cost - No need to pay $20 or more for social media apps when all you need is a tweet scheduler

BlasTwit Hatches!

BlasTwit is the culmination of several years of market and social network analysis. As social media continues to grab the world by storm, individuals, businesses, and institutions find themselves in a never-ending quest to morph their social media footprint to further their missions.

Of all the Social Media networks, Twitter with 280+ million active users, is perhaps the most widely used. More tweets are sent daily than there are posts on the next five most widely used social networks (and that includes Facebook)

BlasTwit focusses specifically on a need that hasn’t quite been addressed with the Twitter Apps currently on the market – the (affordable) categorization and scheduling of recurring tweets. Institutions, businesses and even individuals have tweets that they send daily or several times per day. From the news outlet posting its daily news links on an hourly basis, a business advertising its sales, or an individual with large followers selling and posting recommendations for others, BlasTwit is the perfect tool to use.

As we venture down the road to changing how many in the twitter-shpere tweet, we are privileged to have you join the BlasTwit team on this journey.
